The Affiliates Fast site is still up and going, but make sure to follow the directions on the START HERE link. It gives you all the information you need to know on how to get referrals. You have to make sure to fill out information for every site (you can check the box to give your referrals for a particular site to someone else, if you want to skip a site) in order to start getting referrals. Referrals will not be issued to you until you've completed those steps. More proven sites are coming soon too!

Since creating Affiliates Fast, I've started a new job, but I'm still doing my own thing. I'm currently working on several of my own projects, including a fun iPhone app (which is almost finished), a Facebook app (which I've only just started), and a new site full of fun and entertainment (which is only planned out on paper so far). All sites will give you the opportunity to either make money or advertise, while at the same time being geared toward having fun. I'm hoping to finish the iPhone app in the next couple of weeks. far just to work out any possible kinks. Since not many people read
this blog, I'm going to go ahead and post the URL here, without
sending it to any other connected sites until tomorrow or the next
day. It's at http://affiliatesfast.com.
 
It's a very basic, totally free site that simply helps you to find
legitimate places to make a little extra money online (organized in
terms of whether they have been proven to pay), refer people in one
place so you can get all your friends to sign up for all the affiliate
sites for which you are a member in one place, and get some free
affiliates in the process! We give a percentage of all referrals who
come to the site directly to the next person in line.
 
Don't worry, if you refer someone directly, and they leave and come
back later to the direct URL instead of through your referral link,
they will probably still be connected to you, as long as they have not
deleted their cookies.
 
So, here's all the info:
 
1. The site is http://affiliatesfast.com
2. It's totally FREE, and there are no paid options at all
3. You have the chance to get free affiliates for all your affiliate
sites in one place
4. You have a good list of sites, categorized by "Proven to Pay" (as
in I tested them myself, and they actually paid me, or gave me
whatever other benefit they offer) and "Looks Promising" (as in not
proven, but been around for awhile, so they will probably send you
what you earned)
5. You can suggest additional sites through our contact form
6. It's easy to sign people up, and you don't have to worry (much)
about them leaving and coming back later to the wrong URL
7. Every site has a description, as well as tips and tricks on how to
best use the site.
8. You can rate, comment on, and review each site
9. Every site form contains detailed information about how to get your
affiliate ID, specific to that site
10. In order to be active (and therefore get free affiliates), you
have to fill out the form for every site and write at least one
comment or review each month.
11. It's acceptable to check the box to give your affiliate link for
any site to someone else, and still be active.
12. If you have any trouble, comments or questions, you can always
email us through our contact form.
13. Direct referrals do not count toward your automatic referral
count, which means that you have just as much chance of getting a free
referral with 100 direct referrals as another person who has the same
number of automatic referrals, but no direct referrals.
14. We have a variety of sites and link options, including ads (such
as Google and Amazon ads), ad clicking, ad viewing, content writing,
and search. The one thing that is required of all the sites listed is
that you earn more of whatever they offer for referring people.
 
So, that's it! I hope everyone enjoys the site! We will not be telling
many people about it yet, so the first few people who find this will
probably have a better chance of getting some automatic referrals.

things I changed have been tested, and it's all ready to go. I'm going
to upload everything tomorrow. I actually uploaded an empty version of
it today, but tomorrow morning I'll upload the "fully stocked" version
with all of the starting content. All I need to do is upload the
database from the test site (since the files are already uploaded).
Then I can tell everyone about it!! WOOHOO!!

I thought I was
finished with coding, but when I started putting in the live data, I
noticed something wrong that I hadn't noticed in the tests. Well, I
fixed it, so now I'm pretty much positive that the coding for my new
site is all finished. Now I just need to put in the rest of the data,
and it should be all ready to go. I can hopefully launch the site
tomorrow!

I got my second wind and finished all the programming, so
the main work is basically done. Now all that is left is to enter the
actual base data needed for the front page, then enter the actual data
for my own account. That part is really easy, and can be done from
anywhere, because it doesn't require any file uploads like the other
work did. Then I'll just do a few extra tests with the live data to
make sure it all runs smoothly. This means I'll definitely be finished
with the site for a Monday launch. I even changed the domain
nameservers yesterday so it will be ready for me when I load the site
(a domain nameserver update can take up to 72 hours to propagate).

I'm still on track to finish
it up tomorrow, so I hope all goes well. I just have to finish up a
little bit of code that automates part of the site in the background,
which should only take an hour at the most. Then all I have to do is
the visual part, then entering the actual data. Everything is pretty
well laid out and tested along the way, so that should be the easy
part. I'm so glad it's almost ready! :)

I'm almost finished with my
site. I think people will like it, especially since it can help them
make some extra money! I think I can finish it tomorrow or the next
day. If you read this and are interested in making some extra money,
be sure to check back for the next couple of days.
 
The site will be totally free, and only contains options that have
been proven to pay or give some sort of other benefit. It will even do
some of the work for you so you can spend more time doing your own
thing. In fact, I think the site may be perfect for entrepreneurs
looking to make a little extra money on the side to get their
businesses going, but without taking much time away from the day job
or new business.
 
There won't be any payment options at all. Every option on the site
will be free. In addition, you won't have to enter a ton of personal
information to join (just email, username, password, and display
name). There's really no reason for people to not at least try it out.

I had been having trouble for
a few days. I was dragging my feet, having a hard time getting
motivated. When I woke up this morning though, I was able to start
right in on work, and had three long work sessions with breaks in
between. I must have been getting sick or something because I was
getting migraines, and just feeling generally crappy.
 
I didn't get one headache all day today. I got a ton of work finished
on my new site, and even had time to clean my baby girl (my dog Lulu)
in the shower. That reminds me, I really need to get my camera out and
start putting up some pictures with my posts!

I've changed the name of my blog from Kristen's Email Blog to
Kristen's Desk. I had the domain name kristensdesk.com sitting around
not being used, so I thought I would take advantage of it. It's still
random stuff I email to myself, but in light of my last post, I
thought I would make the theme about my general entrepreneurial work.
 
Now I'm just trying to figure out why the www is required before the
domain name. It points with or without, and I entered it without the
www in my settings. Also, I think a lot of people type in a URL
without the www. For some reason, if you try to just put
kristensdesk.com, it brings up the main page of the Posterous site. I
suppose I'll have to contact them about it.

I think my eyes are going to pop out of my skull. That's what happens when you're an entrepreneur. It's wonderful and horrible at the same time. It's wonderful because I have so many awesome ideas (at least they're awesome to me), and I can work on any of them. The horrible thing is that it's a tough job, and I tend to work harder, and have a more difficult time sleeping than when I have a 9 to 5 job. I also get more migraines.
 
Sometimes I wish I could have a job of just physical labor. For example, I helped my dad to weed the lawn at an apartment complex the other day just to get some physical activity (and $40), and it was great. I don't work out much lately, so I was sore all over, but I still felt good afterword. I also got to go home and I don't ever have to think about it again.
 
But this entrepreneurial stuff.... I think about it constantly. Having a home office doesn't help. I find myself waking to yet another new idea many early mornings, and I can't get back to sleep until I've exhausted the idea and written down everything I can about it to get it out of my mind and let my brain rest. This could drive a person crazy.
 
I do, however, think the good outweighs the bad. I'm not sure why, but I really love my crazy brain, and the way it occupies my time and gives me company. I know my family thinks I'm crazy when I spew out a new idea for a half hour in the morning, but I don't mind. So, I'm a little nuts. I like it that way.
